yea i did but then i also read that in order to chip you have to replace the blow off valve or DV or whatever witch looks to me to be another 400 bucks
first make sure all the maintenance is done, good control arms, timing belt, PCV system is good, vacuum lines are replaced, and a good tune up is done. then start modding.
Chip it, you might be able to find a FMIC in the classifieds every once and awhile. DV, Downpipe, the whole bit. If you spend right you can easily do all this under a grand.
another thing is i dont trust myself enoguh to do any of the install my self and i have no idea where or how much it will cost me to get these things done
The DV is very simple mate should be located under the right hand side of the car near the front of the engine. make sure the car is cool before grabing things , if you need pics or anything of the sort just PM me i'll gladly throw together a DIY for you
If you chip it and buy the DV, expect to not have a running car for 1-2 weeks while the company you choose works on your ECU and the DV will not be a hard install, you can ask around here for a write up or have a tuning shop do it for a reasonable price. the 2 of these will cost you around 300-400 bucks.
A chip (and a diverter valve that will hold the higher boost) are your best bang for the buck. Search around for some instructions on how to do those yourself. Both are easily done and require minimum tools. If you can find them used in the Classified Forum, even better. That will save you some cash and if you get a chipped ECM, you can swap it out yourself with no vehicle down-time involved.
DV is easy to DIY. Make sure the vacuum lines are in good shape too. Save the leftover from the chip/DV and get a suspension. That will help keep the car under control with the new found power.
