Well, the car was redesigned in 2001.5, so be careful that you know which you're getting.

The old design was simpler and cleaner, while the newer one (essentially the same) went with a more upscale, classy design. It all depends on what you're looking for style-wise.

Also, do you have an engine preference? Options? Sedan or Wagon (Variant)?You can get a lot for $14k, from a fully-loaded 2000 GLX V6 to a more base-level 2003 model.

 

Not a wagon... and as for the body style, I am aware of the silver lining on the outline. I am very ok with the basic model.

As for th V6 or the 1.8t I just want to you guys to help me with that one.

There are constantly threads going on this, but IMO it boils down to this:

1. Save money up front and get the option of more performance increases with the 1.8t...but risk far more engine problems due to the complexity of the turbo. You'll save on gas if you drive conservatively (3-5mpg better than V6). But you'll have low torque from the bottom, up until you get into the boost range. This engine shines above 3000 rpm.

2. Spend more up front and limit modification by getting the V6. You'll have user-friendly torque throughout the range, and is very smooth at all speeds. You'll suck up more gas, but you'll have a lot fewer engine issues to contend with.

Just know upfront that the 1.8T will require rigerous mainenance and will also need expensive (relatively) synthetic oil. Do that and your motor should be fine. I drive a hard 30K miles a year and she's hasn't acted up once.

 

In that case I think I am going with the V6 Sedan. Now my next question, is if you guys had to chose between the 02 and the 03, which one will you chose.

 

they're esentially the same car.
Depends on which one has lower mileage, best price, and full service documentation.
