sounds like maybe the top shock nut is not tightend all the way down.

 

Maybe, but that was put on with an air ratchet.

 

did you hold the shaft while doing it? the nut has a plastic material on the threading that will bind up and cause the shaft to spin with the nut while tightening it down.
alot of us have been there done that.

 

I had a mechanic do the spring swap so I'll assume that he tightened the top nut. I was thinking that the plastic peace and the bump stop may causing the issue since the noise is on both the driver and passenger sides.

I'll check on that top nut this weekend. That's exactly why I prefer to do stuff myself, but they wouldn't let me use the spring compressor myself. Thanks for the input.

 

Maybe worn sway bar links. Check those out, they knock when bad.

 

You will need to remove the front shocks to check the nut. It does sound like that is the problem. An airgun will not tighten the nut if you don't hold the shaft.

You should also have the bumpstops in place. It can prevent damage to the shock if you bottom out the suspension. They can be cut, but should be used.
