2003, 1.8t, Automatic.

Just I was merging onto the traffic from a parking lot, a huge transmission jolt with ABS, ASR lights on.

The speedometer dropped from 30 to zero. PRD321 lit up.

Scanned, 00532 fault code came up. Deleted.

Been running fine for the last 150 miles.

Battery reads 14.2V at idle.

What the heck was that??

Before proceeding with an ABS repair, try simply unplugging it. (Been there ... done that.) You will get an ABS fault warning, of course, but everything else should return to normal, at least after a fault code clearance, possibly even without one. My own ABS failure caused my car to fail smog (the only time any car I have ever owned has failed a smog test, a point of pride for me because I wrote my doctoral thesis on photochemical smog formation). Even though my trusty VCDS could still scan my car, my local smog station couldn't communicate with my car over OBD2. My smog tech and Uwe Ross of RossTech were caught by surprise, as well, because neither had seen a car fail smog over an ABS control module fault. I swapped in a replacement ABS module, drove to reset my smog readiness codes, and passed easily.

Thanks John.
Interestingly, it’s been almost 300 miles after that incident without a problem.
That was the weirdest thing happened to the car.
Do y’all think i should proceed with digging or wait until something happens again, which, by the look of it is unlikely.

From the way you described it, my concern would be that it could be quite dangerous if it happened in traffic or at highway speed.
Unfortunately the fault won't show up in any tests while it is working properly.

My best guess would be an intermittent fault in the ABS module, that caused the brakes to lock up and stalled the engine.
I think the best option is to get the ABS Module repaired. Tell the repairer what happened and ask if he can find the cause.
