So I just bought my 2000 Passat Wagon 1.8t 5sp. I changed the spark plugs and used auto lites (probably a bad move but I didn't have enough for anything else). I pulled out the old plugs and they looked horrid. I replace and the car performed better than before. However, I have an intermittent start issue and was wondering if you could help.

It cranks but doesn't fire. This happens iv it sits over night, below 35F, or if I have had it running and turned it off for about ten minutes. It does start if I crank it a few times and sometimes tap the pedal a couple of times. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
