Hi folks. This is Taner from Adana / Turkey and we, too, love the Passat, though here the sedan outsells the variant by 1 to 10. Due to harsh taxation laws, buying a VW Passat, or any car that has a displacement of more than 1600 cm³, is severely punished here and therefore, thanks to VW, we can buy the new TSI (T-FSI to say) engine with 1.4 litres (yes, one point four) and 122 hp for about $40k. We know, don't tell us, you guys get the fully loaded version for that price.
I'll try to post more pics of our Passats here in Turkey. www.vw.com.tr is in Turkish but maybe you'd want to take a look, eh?
Ah yes, they DON'T ship the 3.6 V6 280 HP to Turkey, nor do they ship the 4Motions with the coveted DSG gearbox. The cheapest version you can buy, the 2.0T (called 2.0 T-FSI here) with 200 hp is the most expensive version here and costs about $75k.
BMWs and Mercs, they cost triple!
Hope to hear from you people! Bye and take care. Ah, Incirlik Air Base is just 2 miles from where I live. And I love the taste of Skippy Extra Crunchy!
