After a heavy rainfall my passat's floorboard is flooded with water, sometimes up to 3". There is never any water on the headliner, A - B or C pillars, or the leather upholstery. The entire floorboard gets soaked and i've had to remove the floorboard to remove the water. The car is not being submerged in water so somehow the water is leaking into the vehicle. Vehicle has Sunroof in the closed position, and like I said no water on the headliner or interior, just floorboard! I think I read that there is a drainage system in the B-pillar? Maybe it is clogged and causing the water to back up into the cabin floorboard? I dont know! There are also two drain-like plastic pieces under both front seats that may be the culprit. Does anyone know what this may be? Does anyone know how to clean the drainage system in the passat? Thanks!!

I had the same thing happen to me. It ended up coming from where the hood release cable runs through the firewall. It had a split in it and it looks like water will collect there if the car is parked on an incline. I just used some sylicone and sealed it up. Good ever since.

check under hood for leaves

Had same thing happen last winter (most rain in So Cal in a hundred years, or almost). Amazing how much water can get into interior...

Mine was leaves blown into engine area near dash/windshield. Read many threads that purportedly had a problem elsewhere. Good Luck!

happened to me during last years hurricane season, seeped in through the pollen filter i beleive down through the under seat vents. i try to leave everything on recirculate to prevent that, dont know if it works but no problems so far. more hurricanes on the way to test it out though, yikes!

p.s. flooded the car? uh oh, check CCM otherwise everythings gonna go bonkers shortly.

And you'd better keep it from flooding often there are some electronics below the back seats for emmisions control and such, so the dealership told me when my sunroof started leaking... I just got alittle wet I never had standing water though. My sunroof clogged and water would drip through the driver side cosmetic light.

Leak

I finally think I traced down the cause of my water leak.
Even after cleaning the leaves and garbage from around the fresh air intake (pollen filter) area, I was still getting water in the passenger side. It was definitely coming from underneath the dash, right under the air intake.

Well, today I dug into it and managed to remove the plastic surround that the pollen filter sits in. The rubber gasket that seals it to the body was pretty much thrashed and was letting water right into the car.

New gasket will be ordered Monday and I'll keep my fingers crossed

any updates on this?

QUESTION FOR YA'LL

Is this something that would be covered under warranty? My warranty does not expire until 2008 and looking at other threads its seems like this is a well know issue. Should i expect the dealer to repair this free of charge?

it depends. you really need to read the fine print. i just had a cat go bad on me, and i found out most of the car is covere.
excluding the exhaust system.
warranty cost (12/12 b2b): $1,580
cat converter cost (single): $1400

needless to say. ouch.
