Can B6 be programmed to turn it's head lights and all lights off (lets say 1 minute) after parking the car and locking the locks with remote?

My Mazda6 does it automatically...

I just don't want my wife to find the car with no batery power after leaving the car with lights on in her parking for 8 hrs....

I have heard you can activate it with Vag-Com. look into it. Its a feature I wouldnt use, so I didnt care much when I saw it being discussed.

try this.. leave the lighst on, and see how long it takes for it to turn itself off. The interior lights shut themselves off, so I guess the parking lights will do the same..

so far my observation is, when car is left (accidentaly) with it's lights on lights will not shut off.... it is just very anoying that such a standard feature can not be standard on 30K car... damn Focus, Mazda 6 or even 98 Corolla will shut the lights off for you.

I just know my wife will one day leave the lights on and will be caught with the car dead in a work parking lot!

"coming home and leaving home feature" what a BS !
it should be standard feature not even mentioned in between 300000 standard features on the Passat.

i always wondered this too :/ .. hell i dont even know why the b5.5 cant do it. I mean when you lock the doors with the keyless all the lights should turn off. Makes no sense :(8

well, i find leaving those lights on to be useful, because in Texas and KY when i'm over there, there are no street lamps, it's pitch black and sometimes when i need to park it in the street in front of my house cuz i have guests over or something, i always leave them on so people can see the only car sitting in the road........

The 3.6's Auto light setting does more than just turn the headlights on and off when approaching or leaving the car. It also "fades" the DRLs and brings on the low beams while driving into darkness, like tunnels. It also turns on the dash lights in similar circumstances. Granted, a responsible driver should ALREADY be doing these things; still, I've found it to be a nice feature to have. The only reason it wasn't standard on the '06 2.0T is purely related to marketing of the "upscale" 3.6.

If you can VAG the feature to activate it (which I doubt), all you'd need to do is replace the headlight switch. However, the features that I've described tell me that there are probably other electrical components required, to make the Auto setting actually work in all modes.

Well, that's fine but plain headlight shut off should have been standard on a such a "over standardized" car as Passat... it is not a luxury feature, it's a feature from a 15k usd compact car.

Still love the car
I completely agree with you. That VWoA elected to "save" that feature for the 3.6 does a major disservice to all of the 2.0T owners, when you consider the level of other standard appointments already included in the 2.0 packages.

Yes It can be easily done with VAG-COM

Disable your DRL.
Enable the coming home feature. When you lock/unlock your car the lights (Headlights and interior lights) stay on for 20 seconds and then switch off automatically.

I have this done on my 2.0T using VAG-COM

i just did this on my gti and it works great. you can also enable "leaving home" which will turn on your headlighs when you unlock the doors.

just enable the parking light feature via the vag-com. this will light up only the parking lights (f&r) on one side.

Does it work with a standard light switch or did you have to get one with Auto feature?

Standard switch is fine. However you can use the EURO switch for the B6 and install the rear fogs and enable them using VAG-COM as well. This switch will also serve well when the wire harness is out to install the fogs on 2.0t
i used the standard switch on mine, and it worked just fine too. using this feature will also shut off the high beams and fogs.

I should have been more clear -- I meant standard as opposed to Auto (should have written "non-auto" rather than "standard"). I installed a Euro switch (non-auto) and wired for rear fog. Looking forward to getting front fogs. A post by oempl.us on VWVortex indicates that they have the harness figured out and were going to start shipping this week.

So with the non-auto switch the coming home functionality is what? Lock the car with the light switch in on position and all lights go out after about 20 seconds? If switch is placed in off position lights go off right away?

Thanks for the reply.
