I am looking to get 2 12s, price range around 600-800 retail price each. looking for a balance of SPL and SQL. let me know what you guys have in mind. Looking to put it in my doubleshot box, it has plenty of volume. right now i am looking at the MTX 9500s.

what do you mean balance of spl and sql? sql IS the balance. It also doesn't mean anything but that's besides the point. You should offer up the exact airspace you have along with amplifier power. The impedence at which your amp is optimized to make power will influence suggestions.

Get dual Type Rs and then put a [Honda] Type R sticker on your trunk for extra horse power y0! If somebody wants to hate, you can just open up your trunk and shut them fools up . . . BADOW!

JL 12w7 - MSRP is more than price range, but can easily be had for within the price range)

Image Dynamics IDMAX12 - Well under price range

eD 13Av.2 - Well under price range. I am interested in seeing how these sound

Alpine Type-X - MSRP $500

RE Audio MT12 or MX12 - A little above price range. I love my SE12.

Just a few that come to mind. As Blur said though. Airspace? Amp?

With 1200-1600 available for subs you better be running 4 or more. 4 pretty good subs will walk all over 2 REALLY nice subs.

Oh, and what the hell is a "doubleshot" box?

But for a recommendation, 4 Arc Flatlines ported. :D

having heard a dual W7 set up (JL's demo car) with 1K on each i have to say it's different. When properly set up they will blend really well with good midbasses. (That was the first car I ever listened too and it only dawned on me when I got into the hobby that it was the only time I didn't hear subs behind me. Just really full, forward sound.) There are a good number of people who prefer the W6v2 and also those who jump ship from JL to ID.

I've read that IDMax12s in about 1.2cuft can do well with that power. eD uses ID as a buildhouse so performance is ROUGHLY similar to IDs comparable models.

The type-x is a mixed bag. Some people love them, others tire of them quickly. It's said they have a particular effect when it comes to low low bass. Still they aren't efficient and don't get as loud as most people seem to expect them to.

I don't know about RE mostly because there is a bit of SPL snubbing at the forums I use to learn about this stuff.

I will throw in one of my dream woofers which would be a TC sounds TC-2000 (28mm one way xmax:Yikes: ).

(never mind what I just said, just listen to paul)

okay doubleshot box i got is made from powerd4sound, i think they are out of cali, but now its called like nolte audio. essential its like a ported box, but ill draw you in the inards:

ofcourse the picture is not to scale, and the ripples inside is much better designed. i had pictures of it before, but i cant find them.

kinda like this, this guy^ is building his own, but the actual walls in mine are wavey. its similar to a horn design i guess.

i have around ~ 5.3 cubic feet of space in the enclosure.

they have a snailshot design and doubleshot, pretty much the same thing. when i purchased the setup i wanted to put w7 in them, but too pricey for me. so i want to upgrade them now.

ill take a look at your guys subs recommendations. any opinions on brahama?

Jee. Sus. Christ. Will marketing never end? ALL that is is a transmission line enclosure. It's not magical and it doesn't do anything a normal ported box won't do. It's just HELLA big.

With 5.7cf you could do 4 Flatlines sealed and it would be STUPID loud.

 they are like $450 a pop aren't they?. they're flat so you can brag. Chances are no one you know has seen a flat cone sub. If that's not your thing you should reverse mount those because they look down right indecent!

these are the subs i personally have run at one point or another and have had no complaints (other than from neighbors and cops)

-mmatts makes some really dope subs i had one 12 in a prelude that rumped my world
-kicker solo baric L7's (my current setup i have two L712's - people dog on the square form factor, and how it doesnt provide an accurate bass response, but im loving it  looks cool and different too)
-Rockford's power DVC (discontinued but im sure you can find some) i had two 10s in a sealed box in my 300zx which bumped so hard it caused a leak in my ttops :banghead:
-MTX juggernaut i had one 12 in my b5 before i opted for the solobarics-good sub just required way too much ampage
-Orion (i forget which model this was as this was handed down to me from my cousin who introduced me to bass) the one ten i had hit 147dB and lifted the trunk off the hinges in my impala when it was cranked hard

i had wide variety of boxes and amps paired up with all these different subs, so it all just depends on what type of setup you have to complete the package, in my mind an amp is waht makes or breaks the system...good luck & postpics once you do decide....ill have to post some of my setup once i get all the fiber work done

The W7 isn't worth it. It's double the price of amolst everything else but doesn't provide twice the output. MOST of the subs that have been recommended can be used as SQL subs as well. But to answer your question, the GTi is a GREAT SQL sub.

MA Audio, nice to not have a common name brand, plus there amps are Unreal how crisp they are. Plus the subs are amazing as well.

No matter what box you get, polyfill the inside. It makes the box sound bigger then what it is. the physics behind it is that you are breaking up the air pocket behind the sub so it is not hitting a soild mass of air.

I hate to confuse the OP even more, but take a look into the Fi Audio Q series driver. I finally had a chance to hear these drivers a few days ago, buddy of mine has 3 15s in an explorer each sub had about 3 cubes of airspace and the box was tuned to 28 hz, also each had it's own Mtx amp, forget the exact model but IIRC was about 1k watts rms per driver.

Anywho, they get loud, stupid loud, they can take a beating and they sounded great doing it. He played a bit of rap and some rock, w/ the 28hz tuning it pounded out the low notes on the rap songs, and also kept up very well on the double kicks on the rock songs I listened to.

Also, for what it's worth, Fi Audio is owned and operated by the same person that designed all the drivers for RE Audio.
