I have a 2006 3.6 FWD with 42,000 miles on it. Sometimes, when I'm coming to a stop, the engine's rpm won't decrease to the normal 600 rpm that it should go to at idle. Instead it will stay at around 850-900, which doesn't sound like a lot more but it is! I have to really push the brake pedal in so as to not let the car go forward into the car in front of me. At first I thought that it wasn't shifting to 1st from 2nd and holding the high rpm so the car wouldn't stall. That isn't the case. When I accelerate from the stop the car is perfectly fine. It's happened to me in the dead of winter and the hot of summer so I know the temperature outside has nothing to do with it. I'm pretty sure it has something to do with a computer that controls the rpms. I was just wondering if anyone has had this problem. Any responses are greatly appreciated
