Time is up, I need valve cover gaskets and have 70k on the 1998 Passat V6, GLX. Might as well bite the bullet replace the timing belt, thermostat, water pump and ever thing else that I can find or save the tires and roll a new car over the top of the tires. So who should I buy parts from? I see very positive comments both vendors. But I'm in California. Thanks for the input....

We have free shipping on our timing belt kits, but we also have special 2nd Day Air shipping rates for West Coast customers. If you are not in a rush, the order would ship for free going UPS ground. If you needed things faster, the 2nd Day Air Rates are fairly low.

Here is a shopping cart with our ultimate timing belt kit and a complete gasket set:

I recently used both those kits on my personal car (2002 B5.5 V6 4motion) and did end up using all the gaskets with the valve covers.

Feel free to send over a PM or email with any questions, I'd be more than happy to help out!

I have seen ECS sell the tools with the belt kit and the bar works on 12v and 30v v6s, but the 12v v6 is audi only. As far as valve cover gaskets save yourself some aggrivation and get them from the dealer. They cost alittle more but are better quality. I know this from experience. No offense to Blauparts or ECS.

Thank you for everyone's input...I used ECS Tuning, Don't use Blauparts nothing against them, they do offer some outstanding products with instructions. The service I received at ECS hands down was outstanding, the reason I used ECS because they seem to be involved with PassatWorld.

We are fortunate to have many wonderful places to order parts from for our cars, even if VW parts pricing is crazy compared to domestic.

The deciding factor for me when ordering my timing belt kit was the fantastic ECS website, which makes locating and comparing parts a simple and informative experience.

Call ECS PRIOR to placing any orders. Items that they have listed as "in stock" are not really in stock.

And if you drive 2.5 hours to pick up one of those items that they don't actually have in stock, you get treated like a moron as they have no way of ordering other than via web or phone.

Treated like I was an annoyance and not a paying customer over the past 5 years.
