Solved it. Went to AutoZone; they read the code ( loose fuel cap was it ) and cleared it for me. Cost : $000.00. Where do you think I'll go next time I need something?....

Glad you got it fixed, I always turn my gas cap 2-3 clicks past the first click when tightening.

 

After you tighten the cap properly, the CEL will self-clear about 30 or so engine starts later. For $70, you can get a convenient little OBD-II scanner which can read and clear most trouble codes. It should pay for itself the first time you throw a CEL.

 

7 error free cold starts will clear a non-repeating CEL.

Just so I understand your first question, after you clicked down the gas cap, did the CEL actually keep coming on or are you talking about reading the code via the OBDII port?

The guys at the AZ near me are an aggressive bunch and I think they like to leave the building to check codes and such. I recently had to practically tackle a guy who REALLY wanted to put my wiper blade refills on the car. Definitely better than the other extreme though.
