I've tried everything in the instructions but my light switch just won't come out. I think I even pushed it in too much that it feels like something broke in the back that holds it.

I've even tried to pull while I had my other hand assist from behind the fuse panel.
Please help me. I want to install my Euroswitch.

I hate to admit this but I ran into the same problem. I got so frustrated that I then went to remove my rear seat so I could cool down and do something easy like running the rear fog wire through the rear seat area into the rear cargo area over the left side wheel well. I was so frustrated from the switch that I just yanked at my rear seat immediately pulling rib cage muscle. I couldn't move my bowels for three days - cough for a week. Forget sneezing - instant drop to the floor pain.

Three weeks later I tried all over again. But this time I removed the entire under dash panel which has the light switch installed into it. Removed four 20T torx screws. Oh, first I removed the bottom steering column cowling using a 4" long #1 screw dirver on two phillips srews and a center hex head screw - 5mm I think. After unsnapping the electrical leads from the rear of the light switches and ECU hookup I was able to totally remove the under dash piece and fiddle with the switch in order to remove it. It then came out quite easily.

I was embarressed to admit this until your posting. Thousands of dollars in mods and I couldn't remove a light switch!

Yep, you guys are trying WAY too hard to remove the switch.

You push the dial in, turn it clockwise until it stops turning, and then pull. The first time I tried to remove mine (to cover my DRL pin), I could not get it... After 10 minutes, I just kinda gave up. I was just playing with the switch, and it popped out. If you feel like you're forcing it, then stop. You really don't need to force anything.

And veedubyo, to answer your question. To my knowledge, the switches are identical. I have NEVER seen ANY indication that would lead me to believe that the switches vary between B5 and B5.5. Senna and Stealth sold tons of these things, and never said anything about specifying year, interior color, trim... anything. I'm quite sure they're all exactly the same.

The EuroSwitch was an 11 second mod for me. 1.5 seconds to turn the switch and pull it out - 6.5 seconds to unplug the harness - 2.5 seconds to snap the harness into the EuroSwitch - 0.5 seconds to put the switch back in...hehe

When I first installed my Euroswitch I had no trouble getting my OEM switch out. Later I wanted to tape a pin to alter my DRL setup and I couldn't get the Euroswitch to release. After fiddling for half a minute I found that I needed to put pressure right in the center of the switch knob when pushing it in. If I pushed off-center at all it would bind up. Try just putting your thumb right in the center of the switch and pushing inward. You will initially feel the whole switch slide back slightly, then if you add a little more pressure the knob should move in and allow you to turn it clockwise. 1/8" inward movement is about all mine had.

I had trouble with my switch also. I ended up taking off the whole lower trim. Once I got it off, I found the piece that helds the switch and instrument light adjustment knob was partially broken off of the trim pannel. When I would try to push the switch in, the housing would just flex. I tried hot glue to fix it, no luck. Now I have used some epoxy for plastics and seems to have done the trick.

Like someone else said, the best way to figure it out is to take your Euroswitch and fiddle with it. What you want to do is, push in on the switch while turning it clockwise until you feel the switch go way in and then rotate the switch counterclockwise a bit until the switch stays in fully depressed into the socket. It will make much more sense and save you more frustration if you figure it out with the Euroswitch FIRST before you try to take it out of your dashboard. Give it a try and let us know.
