Brake issue. Need advise

Guys I live in wv and the temp has dropped due to the winter months. I recently left my 02 1.8t in the driveway over night (she usually stays in the garage) and the next morning the brake pedal stayed on the floor and raised back super slow during start up. I put the car in reverse and eased backwards and the brakes loaded up keeping the vehicle in place. I put it in drive and again eased on the throttle again brakes loaded holding the vehicle. I went inside to get my temp gun thinking a caliper was frozen and when I jumped back in the car everything functioned properly? I have driven the car a few times since this took place and everything seemed fine. I drove the car to work today and left it in the parking lot. After my 8 hour shift I jumped in the car to come home and the same issue raised again but I had more pedal than before. The cold is defiantly affecting my brakes after the vehicle sits out in the elements for extended periods of time. What do you guys think? Where should I start?

Check for leaks. Check fluid level. Have the fluid flushed.
Sounds like you may have a new master cylinder in your future if I understand your description of the problem.
You're saying the brake pedal initially travels all the way to the floor after sitting right? You can then pump up pressure with the pedal right?
Sounds like you should have a professional take care of this. Not sure what you were planning to do with this "temp gun."
Good luck.

I was planning on driving it around the block in my neighborhood a bit and hitting all 4 calipers with the temp gun to see if a caliper was seized up. As far as the pedal goes yes and no. If the car sits in the warm garage everything works great. If the car is left in the cold the problem seems to happen. It's like the master cylender has condensation of some sort and when it warms up everything works fine.

Flush a full size bottle of correct fluid through it (Dot 4) and see how it does. That should clear any contaminants / condensation from the master cylinder.
If problem persists, have the MC replaced.
Let us know how it turns out.
Good luck!
