I just did the famous COAM mod to my '98 passat today and can honestly say there's a noticable difference for that $20 spent. Anyway, I had some silicone sealant lying around but read that it can mess with your O2 sensors so I decided to leave it be until I take it all apart again when my K&N gets here this week. There's a small gap on the top and bottom where the hoses meet going into the airbox (I decided to put them side by side instead of drilling 2 separate holes). Are those small gaps causing any considerable decrease in performance and if I do need to seal them up what's the best way to do it. The old man who helped me at Home Depot thought I was crazy for doing this and seemed to think every sealant I would use would melt away from the heat.
