what do you mean by needs work? any suggestions are appreciated. :( i know my headlamps are covered with a nasty haze. i am ordering another set of clear headlights as soon as i get the money. the lower valence, (zender replica) is not painted in that pic above. that was just the test fit.

I'm really not bashing you here. Take everything I say as constructive criticism.

First off, nice work getting new headlights. That'll help a ton. Secondly, you seem to have a racy style going on. Carbon hood, aggressive front lip, decals :)P). While it's not my look, I can respect it.

I say the next step (even before spending money on painting your hood) has got to be suspension. Neuspeed sports or H&R sports will give you an aggressive drop without the cost of coils.

After that, find a cheap set of wheels that'll go well with your aggressive look. Something mesh, or maybe a 5-spoke with lip. Try to avoid Flik's...

Another suggestion would be side skirts. I know these are hard to find for Passats, and good ones are expensive. It's not a huge deal, but it'll really even out the car.

Think about the overall look you want to achieve with this car, and mod accordingly. Don't fall into the trap of just doing random mods. I did that for a while and my car really went nowhere.

If you don't have the budget for any of this, it's all good too. Just have fun with your car.

That blue on the license plate would be perfect. It actually would tie in nicely. Despite his "sounding like an ass":poke: (his words, not mine:lol: ), Ryan does have a point regarding thinking about the whole package.

This does not mean (in my opinion) that you have to be lowered, or get new wheels or anything like that, but do think about the overall paint scheme at least. If you add the third color corner, or even a multicolor striped or patterned corner, where else do you want to pick up that design scheme? You could do a bottom corner of the trunk lid as well on the opposite side. You could do matched sideview mirrors-partial or similar corner stripe treatment. You could have a wide or narrow matching stripe along the bottom of the doorsills, just above the black trim. Some day, color matched wheel centers might even happen. If all you want is the hood corner though, that would be fine too, as long as you decide that is your final vision for the car.

Because what you are thinking about is so minimal, I would definitely recommend doing it with vinyl first. Its cheap and easily reversible, and could be done by you with little difficulty. There are plenty of sign makers around who could sell you a square foot or two of material.

I agree that its good to do something different from all the other PWers. What you are trying is as restrained and classy as car graphics are ever going to get.

i thought most people knew i had a lot of the items you mentioned. i guess i'm still a wee little lad on the site, although i have over 1,000 posts  i have a lowered suspension on the car. i have h&r sports, and bilstein adjustable shocks. they are installed on the car. i also have a neuspeed rear sway. i have 18" rs4 wheels, sitting in my garage, just not mounted. waiting to get money for the tires. i just purchased a rear roof spoiler from sonnybk and i am going to get that painted along with the zender replica. i do have a windsheild decal, and i did this because i like the eurosport banner, with the racing flag emblem on one side. this decal is color matched to the car. i went with a carbon fiber hood, just because i had never really had an opportunity to own one, and i like the look of the material. i'm thinking if i put the triangle decal over the driver's side headlamp, that i could carry that theme over to the rear roof spoiler. i just thought of that, so just something i'm throwing out there. but basically that is what i have. springs/shocks, rear sway (neuspeed) wheels, roof, and front spoiler, window decal, carbon fiber hood, clear headlights (will get a new set) and corners, wetterauer chip, evoms intake, tt dv. TT 2.5" exhaust w borla muffler and dtm tips, katzkin leather interior (black) and the car is in the shop right now getting a southbend stage 2 clutch. next i'm doing a shortshifter, and possible snub mount. really and truly i don't want to get too extravagant with the hood theme, because i don't to carry the theme over the entire car. i think the corner piece is subtle enough, and still has statement enough, without having to rainbow color the entire car. maybe a blue and a silver stripe on the hood in the corner would be enough, and then carry that them onto one corner of the roof spoiler in blue.

always taken as constuctive critism. i have a vision for where the car is suppose to be, right now, everything is just in the construction stages.

i like side skirts, but to me, they make the car look too bulky on the sides. i like the black lowers, cause that maintains the european theme that our cars present. i like european. thats why i have a german car. so i'll paint the front zender silver, and proabably just leave the lowers black.

ryan8186 do you have any pics of you car. you stated that you did mod by mod, and you car went nowhere. what all do you have done, and what is the finished product?

like i said, i do have a vision, and sometimes things change along the way. i never really thought i'd do a carbon fiber hood, but then i found one at a decent price. things like the banner, and this new paint scheme, i never really thought about, till i came across cars on websites and that kinda got me interested.

Sure.

Here's a few various stages...

First stage - wheels, drop, europlate, random smoked corners... Nothing that sets this car apart.
Image

Second stage - BBS wheels, drop, joey modded headlights, decent looking, but nowhere near a "total package"
Image

Last stage - Staggered ABT A10 18x8 18x10, KW V2's, color matched headlights, spacers for the front, new exhaust, camo headliner, various other bits... Getting close to my idea of the "total package"

Thanks for the chance to whore :D

you're car is sweet. i've seen your ride plenty of times on this site, and i've inquired about it quite a bit. i always wanted to know that size spacers you were running on the rear. i wanted to use spacers with the rs4's, but i didn't know if i'd achieve the same look as your passat due to not having such an extreme lip. but yeah, you ride has definately caught my eye. so currently you're in the last form? what kind of wheels are those? i love the wheels. AND WHAT SIZE SPACERS DO YOU HAVE? i hope you're not going to tell me that the rear tires are just wider.

your ride is really clean. are you on coils?

i just saw the specs on your wheels. so no spacers in the rear, just a wider wheel? and your on kw coils? i like how you keep your car so clean. i'll definately post pics of my finished product. definately constructive criticism can be ingested easily when you have a ride that is so well appointed.

Haha, lets just say this. Your car will put my car to shame. I parted it out (busted tranny pan from trying to be a cool kid and slamming it :p) So now it's back to stock everything almost... But it's all good. I'll just critique everyone else's rides :D

lol, made me laugh there. shame to hear about about your car. that was definately a bute. by far, one of my favorites. glad you're still around to bust everyone else's chops. no, honestly, i appreciate all comments and suggestions. in the end, i'll still probably carry out all of the things that i have a vision for on the car, and just hope people like what i did. either way, i'll still like it.

still can't see them on the passatworld page, but i got a chance to view them on your hosting side. i want to avoid using the passat name anywhere on the car. if you could maybe photoshop again and insert the colored corner that i was trying to mimic. maybe a vw symbol in the corner wouldn't look bad either, i don't know where you'd get the logo from. i hate when someone has a honda, and puts honda across the front windshield, or cavalier, or neon. i guess i love that volkswagen can be summed up in a symbol. something that can be small yet still effective. i don't know if there is something else out there from a tuner company that i can put up. other than the eurosport banner on the windshield, the only other one i would've put up there would be neuspeed. i don't know if i want a lot of stuff everywhere though. i don't want to be ricey at all. there was a member on this site, i think he has a black b5.5, or and he has something written on the passenger side of the windshield from top to bottom. i wouldn't be able to find the pic now, but that is the type of theme i'm going for. i think he has a carbon fiber hood too.

oh, the pictures just showed up. maybe i could have the triangle in blue and b5 in silver? or the triangle in silver, and the b5 in blue. thanks for the photoshop!
