Anyone have pics of a B5 sedan with smooth bumpers? I am thinking of removing the front and back bumper guards. Then fill it up and repaint it. I think it will give the B5 a little A6 feel, right?

Ahhh yes... this is one of the mods that I wanted to do when I got my car shaved (removed door strips)... Sadly, by the time we got to the shaving part, this mod would have put my body work way over my anticipated budget. We never got around to doing it. :( AFAIK, a few of the B5er's in Europe have done this - and none yet that I know of in the US. This would be quite a custom mod! I'd  to the first US B5 to do this! :D

I know that car and it's in the shop for bumper rebuilding as it started falling apart at the fill and blend lines and is cracking. I was told this by the guy who did the work himself, Cliff.

Looks good, lasts bad the way this guy did Luke's cars.

Sorry to say guys, the paint work I've had done at Full EFX has been 3rd rate at best. My twice repainted grille is now beyond repair and I had to buy a new one.

I found a new paint shop who specifically pointed out many technical short cuts these guys took and that's what lead to my shoddy paint job on a lot of parts including my engine covers.

Nice guy, well intentioned, but technically ???, attention to detail ??? :thumbdow:

I recommend you stay far away from that shop.

Here's a car I can worship. He took off the door strip like I did. When I had mine removed, we had to patch up the nickel sized holes left behind. We did this by patching OEM body sheet metal over them & smoothing itout. I was adamant bout not using body filler to patch it up simply because I knew it would fall apart. When Soon2bBad & I swapped doors, we saw how much work went into the job... not a cheap mod :(

Not to sound stuupid but how did this get done? The smooth bumpers are great!!

I'm also lookin' to get my four fenders widened anybody got pics of that?

TIA

:)
For the doors... read my post above. For the bumpers... lots of body-filler, bondo & time. Theres a new type of bondo thats supposed to be out right now that supposed to be able to bond to these polyurethane bumpers really well...

A lot of these look like Commander Data

Too smooth without any character or facial expression left. I like the idea of a smooth blend as well but if you do smooth, it needs to look OEM, a slight crease here or there, a break in some of the planes, not like you just filled everything in then painted.

The small details, break line at the grille to bumper, the curve up to the headlight, the angled plane below the grille changing to vertical making a shadow line at the front, etc. make this look 10x's better than the 5.5 versions I've seen.
