It looks like the filter is low enough and far enough offset that it shouldn't get heatsoaked by the motor...I'm pretty sure I just found my new intake, unless of course Boosted Tech can come out with something for the Passat...then it would come down to price.

That is a nice setup. For that much money, it is easier to build your own though.
I understand where you are coming form with this, but personally I would rather buy from a company that has done the R&D on a kit and knows it is a good product. Plus the mandrel bends and ceramic coating is nicer then most kits I have seen
I would definately be interested in a GB
I just sent ABD an email asking them about the heat sheild, I will post up a response when I get it

THAT IS SWEET LOOKING  !!!!!!!!!! I've never had a bad experience with ABD either...great products, pricey, but good. I'd forgo my upgrade on alarm, grill and new tires just to purchase that...way to find it NUISANCE!!! :)

somebody do a before and after dyno, puleeeez
That would be a good idea .. no sense spending a bunch of money on pretty things if no HP gain is involved. Where is the air intake from? If its from under the hood I still find it hard to believe even at speed its going to be a cooler intake area than in front of the grill.

Where is it pulling air from?

From the picture, even though the depth perception of it isn't that great, it looks like the filter is a few inches below the headlight housing possibly a few inches away from the lower grille. I'm just speculating, but I'm certain it's below the headlight since that's pretty obvious to see.
