Tried to find a video without success. Biggest question is the pads. The ones I've seen have a wired sensor attached, but I can't figure out if my car has any type of active sensor. I've crawled under the car and couldn't see one. The tools needed are basic, but want to confirm that a #7 hex socket and #30 torx bit are required?

Sorry cannot tell you about a Passat since I will never ever do another brake job.

On my 2002 Jetta it required you to have a special tool to turn the calipers back in.
The front pads on my Jetta did have sensor wires on the front pads since it is the front pads which wear out faster because the majority of the braking is on the front.
Apparently in the USA some Auto Supply stores may lend you the tool if it is needed. Don't know if needed for the Passat.
