I have a 1999 1.5T manual passat with 159,000 miles that's run into some problems. Rattling noise when clutch is engaged and occasional sticking when shifting (hard to get into gear). Not only that, but exhaust like sound coming from under ?driver side. Sounds a little like an import-tuner car.
Repair shop phone quote is $900-1000 for new clutch and maybe $500 for the exhaust sound. While they are in there, thinking about doing timing belt. Timing belt replaced around 80K miles so probably would need another. So that's another $800.
My car looks good, couple dings, no visible rust. Runs great. New turbo at 100K miles. So here's the major question:
Do I get it fixed and hope that nothing else comes up for the next couple years or bite the bullet and get a new car???
