You know the evoms has one too....... right? Look under the A4 though since it's listed only for them but seen others having 'em in the passat. I think you gotta pull the front end out a little bit like you would with pulley kit or timing belt. I'm not sure about that though.

There's actually way less room on the V6 . . . . huge engine bay discrepancy between the V6 and 1.8t.
 
i have the evo EFK and installed it myself. I pulled off the bumpercover and then you have more than enough room to work. it takes 5-10 minutes to remove the bumper. Well worth your time

Interesting. I looked at a B5.5 with the V6 and there was a lot more room between the fan and the radiator. I would think an engine that is three cylinders long would be much shorter than one four cylinders long.

Don't forget the B5.5s are longer up in front. I invite you to come over and look at my V6 and tell me that it has more room than a 1.8t.
