Hey guys, first off i would like to thank Rich @ Liberty VW for hooking me up. He says my wheels are part of the last shipment from VW for the swings. Looks like they're not doing that sale anymore (or they ran out). I got 5 for 187.50 shipped

Anyway, i'm looking for tire recommendations. Specifically all-season since i live in the NE and don't want to deal with changing out wheels when winter rolls around.

Also, what size should i go for ? is 215/55-16 good ? Thanks.

tires

I have a 2002 variant and plan to put on swings. Got them for $110.After the research Ive done I found that the conti extreme contacs should be the best value. I will be installing 205/55/16. The 215's will alter your speedo by about 5%.Read the reviews on that tire on tire rack, most people had only good things to say.

Actually 215/55/16 will alter your speedo by 1.3%(0.8mph at 60mph), NOT 5%. Check tire sizes here:

Well, lower profile for a 225 tire. They're actually pretty much the same diameter -- you have to lower the aspect ratio if you make the tread wider in order to keep the same diameter.

At any rate, 205/55-16, 215/55-16 and 225/50-16 are all acceptable. If you're lowered, I'd actually suggest 215/55-16 despite the minor speedo difference just for the added sidewall to lift your car by a couple of millimeters as well as for the additional cushioning. Will probably be going with that size at some point myself when I get winter tires for the Tangos.

Cool. That's a great idea. The roads here in JC suck really bad  . I need all the cusioning i can get. That's one reason why i didn't go for 17's.
