Well I am having a bit of a hard time finding lowering options for my ride. I wanted to go with something affordable like a v-maxx setup but no 4motion option... its almost a sin how bad seeing (no 4motion) or (exec 4motion) is. For like 500 for coilovers is nice thus is why v-maxx caught my eye. I know I can prolly do springs and struts but that is a little bit more cash.... just trying to get a feel for whats out there since i've seen a shit ton of rides.. checked out the offical lowering thread (all 13 pages).. etc etc. I see a set of B&G's springs on fleabay for 155 shipped which sounds nice to me but I dont see anyone rocking them. 1.6 drop all around.. So any solutions? :wrench:

well i was considering the B&G s2 sport springs and for right now stock shocks :( I know.... stock shocks... ugh. Trying to see the drop and how the ride is with the B&G's or a cheap coilover set... maybe.... the b&g's + stock shocks + that ecs coil kit...? but i guess for all that I could just save pennies for a real coilover set..

How much drop are you looking for? You can have cheap or you can have good. VMAXX falls into the cheap category.

Keep looking in the the classifieds. Also check the AudiZine classifieds as the A6 shocks are a match. I am also running H+R Sports springs from an A6 but have a Koni coil-over sleeve to set the height I want.

I'm in the same boat too.. I've got an '01 B5 that I want to drop prob 2".. I want to eliminate the gap completely in the wheel well. Any suggestions?? I've also heard that A6 rear quattro suspension is the same as the rear 4mo suspension (struts and springs).. Is this true?? ANY help would be greatly appreciated. I've had my b5 for about a year and am now finally going to tune it a bit, but want to make it appear relatively stock. I just really want to eliminate that gap, tighten up the ride quality/stiffer sport tuned, and keep my stock six spoke wheels.. I've owned MANY CARS and this car is the hardest one I've owned to find a set of lowering springs that will lower it enough for. These things sit like 4x4 trucks stock and I CAN'T STAND IT!!! LOL.. And upgrading the suspension is FAR FROM CHEAP.. So when I spend the money I want it to look how I wan't it (ie. NO WHEEL WELL GAP).. Any help greatly appreciated!

For a 2" drop, H+R Sports will get pretty close (about 2.25 usually). The Eibachs will go about 1.5-1.75" drop. The A6 rear shocks will fit, but the springs are stiffer (due to the weight difference) and will affect ride height.

Check amazon for ST coilovers, I saw a set for your car last night $760 shipped. My car is not even low compared to the amount of adjustment they have. I set them pretty close to the top of the adjustment and the drop was around 1.5" if I recall correctly. I've since dropped it more, it has 1 finger fender gap all around with about 1/8" of rake in the front. I did not want the tucked tire oil pan scraping ride height but I did want to have the ability to adjust the ride height. I did the spring and shock thing on my last daily driver and vowed never again. It was like the three bears one setup was to high, one was too low, I never found just right.

Sweet.. I'll check those out on amazon.. I'd really like to drop it to where there is no gap between the tire and the arch of the wheel well.. But I am also concerned about oil pan clearance.. The oil pan/cover does hang ridiculously low on the V6 cars (never looked under a 1.8t).. I've punctured the oil pan/cover once already at stock height hitting a large dip at too high of speed in a parking lot already, but I've had MANY lowered vehicles and know how to drive them when lowered..

I haven't looked in your garage yet, Z32drifter. What model Z32 ya got?? I used to own a 91TT with TONS of mods on it and was pushing close to 550hp at the wheels (many jim wolfe mods and T28 turbos w/ the nismo 555cc injectors) and it was a wicked fast car.. I ended up having to replace the engine twice on it though and man oh man parts were pricey 10 years ago (it was stolen from me). I had lots of reliability issues with that car, but I guess most cars that heavily modded have a bit of issues. It seems like mine was in pieces or not running more than it was on the road though, lol.

Thanks a bunch for the recommendation of the ST's and the pic of your car as a reference. Ya'll seem like a bunch of great guys on this forum!

ECS tuning has them on sale even cheaper right now.

My weekend toy is a 94 slicktop, does not see much time on the streets anymore. I pull her out of the garage for track events mostly. It's still NA but I've thrown most of SPLs catalog at the suspension.

YOU HAVE A NICE z32... Here is a pic of the 91 TT I owned.. Pic taken in '98 or so.. It was stolen in '03...

sorry for the horrible quality pic.. It's of a photo I recently found and I just took a pic of the photo with my phone..

This car was on it's 3rd engine when it was stolen (had just installed a new motor I purchased from nissan which only had 1k mi on it at the time it disappeared!) This is by far the fastest car I've ever owned, but also was the biggest money pit and head ache I've ever dealt with. When it ran, IT WOULD RUN.. No problem smoking the tires shifting into 3rd.. It felt similar to driving a sport bike, but with a cabin! I think these cars (TTs at least) were too far ahead of their time. I learned a hard and extremely expensive lesson about heavily modding a turbo vehicle of this era while playing with this car.

Yours is BEAUTIFUL.
