Blown Speakers, Adding External Subwoofers and Amp

So I think I have a blown front right speaker in my 2004 Passat 4motion v6..does it matter what kind of speaker I get? and should i be replacing all of the speakers or just the one thats blown out?

I also bought Subwoofers and an Amp from one of my friends, I believe I have a monsoon system which I was reading in other posts comes with an amp of its own and the speakers have subwoofers so there there anything I should be aware of when buying speakers/having the subwoofer and amp being installed? I think im getting it installed by Geek Sqaud but I would like to get some information.

you should replace all speakers in pairs (at a minimum), unless you are replacing with OEM - and with a Monsoon system, you can not replace a front lower door speaker with a rear lower door speaker; the rear lower door speakers are subwoofers, and are 2 ohm speakers vice the fronts, which are 4 ohm speakers.

friends don't let friends get installs performed by the Geek Squad or Best Buy. pay for a real install at a real car audio shop first - this forum is littered with bad installs by those folks.

oh okay thanks for the response! I was thinking of just going to go buy a pair of Speakers and replace the front two..so I would need to get two 4 ohm speakers to replace the front two?

Jay is absolutely right. Theres more than just bolting in speakers. Ask a few vdubbers in your area for recommendations. What type of sube are you going with?

sorry for the late response I didnt realize people acutally replied haha. But My brother had subwoofers he wasnt using so i just took them off his hand..all i know is that they are 10in Clarions in a Ported Box
