A couple of months ago 'someone' noticed some oil leaking out of the A4 (97 1.8t, AEB). The culprit was the Pressure relief valve on the inlet side of the turbo. I found the part in my Bently, it's number 6 in the image:

I decided to also change the PCV on the crankcase. Here are the new valves and part numbers:

Here are the tools you need:

Here is the "034" valve in the car:

Here is the "058" valve in the car:

Instructions? I don't think that you need them based on the images.

Notes:
When replacing the 058 valve you may find it simpler to pull one side of the valve and put the new one on prior to fully removing the old one. It will prevent you from putting it in backward on accident.

The 034 hoseclamps are a hassle to reach. Make sure you put them back on in the easiest orientation for future replacement.

This is a simple job and the parts are cheap. $24 for the 034 and about $9 for the 058. These valves should be swapped out as maintenance items.

I did this write up and work on my Audi. The engine is the same as a Passat. It should be helpful. If a mod wants to move this to Tech/Info please do!

Oh my image with the part numbers has the wrong letter on the '034'. it is part #034-129-101 B NOT ...-S.

Perhaps I am just being "thick," as our British friends would say, but I cannot find any PCV replacement procedures and pictures in my Bentley manual. Nor can I find any mention of PCV inspection and servicing in my owner's manual's maintenance schedules. Until recently, I did not even realize we were blessed with TWO valves; I had been blissfully ignorantly inspecting only one of them! Thanks for posting; this is indeed a VERY important topic.

I have 140k on my AEB and I have never done any maintanence in regards to the vaccum/PCV system.

For the first time since I've owned this car(almost 6 years), I have to go through emissions testing. By the end of this month.

The car runs great and I think it will pass, but lately with all this talk of PCV valves and oil in the vaccum lines I'm a little worried.

I've done a several searches but I can't seem to find what I'm looking for.

Does anyone have a complete parts list for the PCV/vaccum system?

or Atleast everything that should be replaced as maintanence.

TIA

What do you guys think should be the maintenance interval on this? Every 4-5 years? It seems it would be better to do a replacement than wait till symptoms start appearing.
