WWPZD (What Would Paul Do)

I would like to shout out to Paul (PZ) for his help in a big way last night. I was replacing my glove box yesterday. No big deal. I had just had the family out and about, and Christine (my 2000 v6 passat) was running just fine. I get home and take apart the glove box to replace the door, and I was listening to the radio. I figure out that the door from China had the arms bent and warped so bad, that it was unusable. My wife says that she wants to go pick up a table, so I am putting Christine back together, and she won't start. I tried jumping her, and still nothing. I take the battery to get checked out, and it was deemed a bad battery. I bought a new one, and put it in. I go to fire her up, and still nothing. I have cluster lights, AC and radio (until the radio went into safe mode). I am freaking out. My remote isn't working again, so I replace the batteries that I had just replaced a couple of months ago. Still nothing. I am searching everywhere. I narrow it down to maybe the ignition coil. I am son my way to the parts store, and Paul calls me back. I tell him all the symptoms that I am having, and he suggests to check fuse 14. Sure enough, it was a blown fuse from the glove box light causing the car to not start. It is because of people like Paul, that our cars can run for years. I am thankful for the help and look forward to continuing the enjoyment of owning Christine for many more years to come. Paul is my personal savior. Thanks again Paul (PZ).
Thanks,
Alan.

I am very glad that late in the production run (I think it was '03 or '04) they separated the fuse that ran the piddly, stupid stuff (in my case it was the rear hatch acutator) from the parts of the CCM that enable your car to start.
I bet there are B5's in the junkyard now that have only such a small, stupid problem as this! what a nuisance.
Paul is the man. Need I say more?

It really is stupid that they wire things like this. One light could cause the whole car to not start. Last night did make me realize that I need to finish installing Windows on my Mac so I can start running my Ross Tech cable. And yes, I did buy the real deal cable.
There isn't a nicer, more knowledgeable guy out there!

Trust me, there are much nicer people out there. Just ask some of my co-workers!

don't praise him too much, his head won't fit through the front door any more! :poke:
