Nah, It'll work and if you want to run a BOV on the 1.8t, this isn't a bad choice at all. I almost bought the HKS, but went with a Tial 50mm instead. The reason why it'll work, is because the valve stays shut under idle engine speed. This prevents air leaks in your intake track. You don't want that because the MAF is measuring constant air flow. Your ecu will provide fuel based on the MAF readings; if you have an air leak, the fuel will continue to flow. Less air + more fuel = too rich. Additionally, because of the operating speed of the valve, it vents to atmosphere very quickly before closing again under boost pressure. You can read about it here, take notice of the dual valve set-up.You are just asking for a CEL.
