I think I've cracked the code on the so-called reliability issues with these cars. They DON'T like to be driven in traffic like the average grocery-getter. They're much happier flying down the open road...

 My '99 B5 rolled out of the driveway a couple months ago with 204,XXX on the clock. The new owner emailed me a few days ago that he's already replaced the turbo and the right front wheel bearing and fixed the window regulator (all disclosed well prior to the sale). He's a happy camper...

I like my V6 a lot better than the 1.8. Driveability is sooo much better and no turbo related issues to deal with (the '01 MkIV Wolfie on jacks in the driveway has enough of THAT going on...)

Grats on the 234k!!!

Congrats! I did 100k a few months ago on my B5.5. I'm now at 108k, but the car isn't getting much use now, so it will be a while before I even get to 120k.

I bought it, a 1999 V6 5 speed, with 123,435 miles on July 21, 2008. As of today, November 1, 2008, I have 128,158 miles. That's 4,723 miles in a hair over 3 months. The most driving i ever did in it was To the beach and back three times in a week. i put 1,000 miles on it over just that week alone. All I've done was the serpentine belt, O2's, air filter, and spark plugs.

113500 on my '03 GLX V6 Wagon. Still haven't gotten to replacing my front struts and motor mounts. Might do that during my vacation time in November and December. Still on my original clutch, which surprises me since I do hit traffic on my way to and from work every day (10-15 miles in slow or stop and go every day). Still gets 26mpg @ 75mph.

I hope to get her to 250k. Not an unreasonable goal.
