Hello folks,

A nice set of A6 wheels apeared near me and I am considering purchasing them and loading them as a winter set.

The exact size is 16x7J ET42. The tires that I bought a month ago and intend to use on these are 205-55 R16. I have found numerous treads about offsets and such, but over there guys are usualy talking about 17' and up, so I just though I could ask the Passat drivers.

My Passat is from 2002 and it is 1,9 TDI.

These should fit as the current OEM ET is close to the one of the new wheels. In any case the only place that some rubbing may occur is at the front but some 5 mm spacers would be enough to make them fit but again these should be a direct fit.

With concentric spacers! Maybe you wont need em but I'd double check.
Put a wheel on the front and check your clearances.

Thanks for the input guys. You expect them to rub in the suspension arms?

Two more questions- Is it a problem to drive with spacers +5mm (if needed) only on the front wheels, but not on the back? and Would I need different bolts, if I put spacers on?

Not that we expect any rubbing as 205/60/15 is a recommended manufacturer setup and your desired setup is 205/55/16, in terms of size it is the same but your new setup would be slightly wider and the offset 5 mm inward, these factors could make necessary the addition of some spacers. The only way to know it for sure is trying one of the wheels on at the front and go from there. I have never heard of someone using spacers at the front only but 5 or 10 mm is not a big deal and I would add some 5 mm ticker spacers than the front at the rear just for looks. Longer bolts are needed if you add spacers, they should be the bolts length plus the spacers thickness. When ordering make sure they are conical or ball seating according to the wheels.

They will fit without any issue. The only difference between the pictured wheel and the original wheels will be the Audi wheels will sit slightly deeper in the wheel wells which should be advantageous for winter wheels.

Avoid spacers if you can and you won't have to buy longer wheel bolts. ICBW, but I don't think OEM Audi wheels require conical wheel bolts. In fact, I simply ignore the conical/ball recommendation.

Update on the topic- They fit perfectly. Original bolts fit also fine.

Now the only thing left is to find a way to replace that Audi logo from the center caps. Thank you guys for your input, it was very helpful! :thumbup:
