I was cleaning the ol' B5 today and just noticed the small "check engine" symbol that was at the back corner of the rubber coin tray in the center consol (next to the e-brake).

I looked under it and there was a small slot that went down about 1 1/2" and was curious about what it was. Any info would be great.
Thanks guys,
Wes

thanks guys. Where does it plug in on our b5s?
Directly below the steering wheel, which is less convenient but much better protected from the elements, such as spilled drinks from the flimsy cupholders, or water from the sunroof. My compromise is the original U.S. position with a longer cable to the scanner or laptop computer.

I checked out my sisters' 2000 1.8t today, it doens't have the symbol there, but there is a port under the coin tray...

however, mine has a wire that passes threw the bottom of the port (the end of the wire isn't visable, it just passes threw). any ideas what thats about?
