I haven't seen many positive reviews on the 3.0? It seems to have been a short run motor as well. Since it was quickly replaced by the 3.2L.

If you're gonna get a B6 1.8T or V6, might as well get the 6-speed. Just watch out for the coilpack recall.
My next car will probably be a lightly used 3.0 B6 MT6.

I think the 2.8's may have only come in with a 5-speed.
Someone else who actually knows whould chime in...
Until 2001, you could get a B5 2.8L with a 5MT and quattro. The B6 debuted in that same year ...now with a 6MT and the larger 3.0L motor. The 3.0 V6 was dumped after about 3 or 4 years and replaced by the 3.2L in the B7.

Well to tell you the truth...I would really love a B5.5 V6 4 motion 5 speed. But all B5.5 4 motions V6 are auto's. So next would be an A4, but I don't know if I like the 3.0L like whats so great about them??

The V6's are only slightly faster and you really feel the weight of the engine in regards to handling. I'm not a fan of the 3.0. 3.2 is better but still chose the 2.0T over it.

I believe you need to get an '04 or higher 1.8T to get the 6 speed, but the 3.0's should already have it in all B6's with manuals.

My ultra sport B6 with the 1.8T and 6 speed would knock down 32-36 on the highway (40 mile commute each way) and usually travelling between 75-80. You won't see that with the V6.

So far my 2.0T with the 6 speed and 18's w/ summer only tires is only slightly less, but it's still breaking in.;)

Unless you have a thing for low end torque, the turbos and a manual is the way to go IMO.
