Dumb question maybe, but does my UK 98 Passat 2.8 syncro have a CEL light? If so, where should it be (i suspect it may have blown, that is if it has one).

Appologies for the crap picture (taken with a phone camera whilst bored and waiting for the wife to finish the shopping :/) My guess is that it should be in the centre, between the temp warning light and the fuel warning light.

Cheers.

On my US spec 98 B5 the CEL is in the upper right hand portion of the tachometer, a couple of centimeters below the 4000 RPM mark. I'm not sure that it would be the same on the Euro spec. Mine also has a manual tranny so that may be another reason for a difference.

My UK spec "98" passat also has no CEL light. I think they were produced without this as in my handbook there is no mention of it & in the dash / instruments pictures in the book there is no CEL light showing !
