I change my wifes t.b. last week and to my suprise it had the update tensioner. It is a 2000. Did they use the update tensioners on production runs after a certain year?

IIRC, it was in 2000 when VAG released the AUG/ATW engines here in the US.

Thanks it is a ATW. That makes me feel better. I was thinking that the pearson before might have changed it, and I could have waited to change it.
