Shops that make hydraulic hoses can put new connectors on them, but that assumes the rest of the hose is in good shape.

I am trying to distance diagnose something, do you think if someone tried to change a thermostat (now I am not sure if the meant the 8D0959481B Auxiliary Fan Switch in the lower radiator hose or the actual thermostat and housing) on a 2.8l that they could have messed up one of the lines, leading to high transmission fluid temps...that might then lead to the AT jumping randomly to 5th gear?

Anything is possible but I would suspect something more along the lines of when the coolant was drained some spilled and got into the connectors on the transmission switches - or something along those lines.
