When I brought my car from the dealer I got a hell of a deal. It made me wonder what kind of deal others got on their car.

The dealer gave me this deal:
$5,500 for my 95 blazer trade in and dropped the price for my 2002 1.8T from 20,999 to 16,495. My payments are only 169 a month.

Tell me that isn't a sweet deal. It took 4 hours of negotiating, but damn if I didn't come out a winner.

wv_passat, if you don't mind me asking did you finance through the dealer or own your own with a bank? I am assuming you have a 60 mo. note for that low of a payment.

I got my 99 GLS V6 Dec 02 for under 14K.

I hate to say this, but those numbers don't work. @ 0%int for 8 years, it'd be 171/mo$. Either something is mis-typed? or you put more money down? or did you get the car for 16495 - 5500 (your trade) Even then (total due you of 11K) you'd still have to have a 6 yr loan for <4% to make those numbers acurate.
Might this be a LEASE?

i picked up a CPO '00 1.8t tip with 30k for 13.7k at Nov03. KBB retail was around 17.7k, edmunds TMV was 16.7k, so it's a decent deal.

Not bad, I got my 2000 variant 1.8t TIP with 19K for 12,300. I thought it was a great deal.

Bought my 2000 4Motion Variant new in 2000. Paid sticker, but the dealer threw in window tint, nose bra (which I don't use), six disc changer AND single disc in-dash player. Oh yeah, and the armrest cup holder.

I had a '99 Olds Intriugue that I still owed about 10,300 on. The dealer gave me $6000 for it (which is what I expected since Olds is going out of business and are ridiculously undervalued because if it). I got a $2500 dealer rebate off the $25,850 sticker of my '04 GLS. With the negative equity of about $4300, I did some negotiating. I told the sales manager that if he could get my payments under $500 I'd take it. So we haggled a bit and he gave me another $500 or so off. So, I ended up financing about $27,100. After interest (which I got 1.9%) I will have paid $28,450. Doesn't seem like a good deal, but for me, the bonus is that when I have this paid off in 5 years, I will only have a 5 year old car with one owner (that loved it) and worth some $ as opposed to paying off a car that would have been almost 10 years old and worth practically nothing. My expresion at the end of that one would have been, "Yay, I just paid off my car that has been waiting for the junk yard" :puke: . Not to mention I went from 4.9% on the old car to 1.9% on the new. Saving me even more money. I can't say that I like having a $474.19 car payment but when I drive my B5, it is well worth it. :D

I got my 2003 GLS loaded (sans Monsoon, HomeLink or Tip tranny) for $24,000 out the door in late December, 2002. INSANE value.

$5,500 for a 99 1.8T
Basically bottom barrel - NO options
(ie: NO- Sunroof or CD Changer, Cloth Seats)
It did have 112,500 miles on it too....but I still think I got a very good deal on it.
