The MAF is located in the air box with the engine air filter. Black plastic box on the passenger side and towards the front of the engine bay.

Those plugs look carbon fouled (rich mixture). It's hard to tell in the photos but the center electrodes look like they might be rounded over from age. If they are, it'd be a good idea to get a fresh set of plugs.

What is the complete list of trouble code numbers you're getting from your scan tool?

You know if you kept all your info to one single thread it'd be a lot easier to see all the info and offer advice.

Many times one problem causes or intensifies other problems. It's easier to troubleshoot if we know everything going on. All pertinent info in one thread will get you the most useful feedback.

I'm going to assume you mean P0300, P0301, P0302, P0303, P0304. Random multiple misfires and cylinder specific misfires on all four cylinders. No other codes? Had you cleared the codes recently?

Give us the complete story front to end and maybe something will stand out. As it is, it could be almost anything. I would first steer towards vacuum leaks/fueling/MAF/O2 sensor because of the symptom change you saw when blocking the PCV pipe (previous thread).

Do you have a B5/5.5 with a problem ?
Do you want help solving the problem ?
You won't get anywhere starting new threads all the time, why do you ?

All pertinent info in the same thread, please. No one will be able to help if they don't have the information needed to make a qualified diagnosis.

A clue I just picked up in another of your threads is that the engine runs smooth at first start then gets rough after about a minute of operation. Is that what it does? If so that's another clue pointing away from ignition system and towards an air/fuel mixture problem. At first cold start the management runs open-loop off of pre-set tables. When the O2 sensors heat up and come on-line the system will switch to closed-loop and run off of live data instead of the guess tables. If sensors aren't providing accurate data the engine can run worse then it did off the guess tables. If it was an ignition system failure it would probably run rough all the time.

How many miles/years on those plugs? I'd replace with a new set.

To Tomvw:
Unfortunately I have very real half-dead Passat, which I bought about a week ago.

It had dead battery, starter, fuel pump, empty transmission. I used 4 bottles of Castrol and 4-5 bottles of Valvoline ATF, which I believe are the same fluid. They fit VW ATF with numbers I posted in another thread.
Last 2-3 days I spent diagnosing "rich" problem, which was narrowed down to MAF showing 2-3 times higher than normal air income. Usually disconnecting MAF makes engine run fine, it didn't work, so maybe it is not MAF problem or plugs are so dirty, engine cannot run.
I am going to clean plugs and run engine with MAF disconnected. Used MAF from junk is possibly worse than original one.
thanks to everybody, who tried to help.
It would be probably smart just to bring car to a dealer and pay them 100 for diagnosing.

You didn't answer my other questions.
Do you want help solving the problem ?
You won't get anywhere starting new threads all the time, why do you ?
Can you hear the fifth valve ?

You would have no reason to have a dealer diagnose it; if you had stayed with one thread and provided the fault codes
and other requested information. And refrained from posting ridiculous comments.

I don't hear valves or I just don't know which valve you are talking about. I know that each cylinder has 5 valves.
If somebody can call me and lead thru diagnosing, I'll pay $40 by paypal.
I have Actron scanner with all data and waveform diagrams.
Trim is 25%
MAF 6-10 g/sec, should be 2-4.5.
I would believe it is bad MAF, but disconnecting it doesn't help
Wideband showing +0.5 to1V, which is lean
