What have you done to your other car today?

Thought I'd start a little thread on our other cars (if the Passat isn't your only one) and what we do to them.

My '16 A4 S-line Premium Plus, Sport pkg. and Drive Select Basically a baby S4 with 100 less hp :rolleyes:.

Trying to track down a misfire at light and heavy throttle only a while back. Throttle body cleaning, PCV valve and then finally found the plugs were bad. Got red top coils for the hell of it.

Recently did an S4 front brake upgrade (didn't need the calipers, just the carriers, but they look better)

Decided to try a red color tint and also had to match the rear unpainted ones to the front. Looks like cherry Dr. Pepper in the right light. Not crazy about it. Thinking about another color soon.

I thought my A4 stopped well with stock size rotors, but stepping up to 345mm from the S4, your eyes about pop out of your head when you toss the anchor out.

Those look nasty.
Now you just need a walnut shell blaster.
Now that I know how relatively easy it is to pull the intake, I'll think about it. Even buying the equipment beats the $900 that NGP was going to charge. My main goal was to fix the code before we drive to Helen, GA and back for a week. It was getting 18mpg on the highway and just around town on the weekend, I was getting 19mpg which isn't bad at all.

Oh, and for you Audi 2.0T folks, Naptown Tuner on YT is a great resource.

Wife is finally ready to replace her 2010 Mazda CX-7. We test drove a Genesis GV70 and the new Lexus RX350. I really liked the Genesis quite a bit. She's on a list to get the Lexus though in the colors and options she wants. Probably the last new car she buys just for her so waiting for what she exactly wants.
Went faster than we thought, she just got an email from the dealership offering her one. It's a luxury with every option but probably about the only way she was getting the upgraded headlights and stereo. OK, I wanted the stereo. The Fender in my Golf R is so great and hopefully the Lexus Mark Levinson will be as good. Hopefully get it finalized tomorrow and she should have it in mid May.

The same Highway stint that we got 18mpg on last week has now jumped to 24 since replacing the injectors. I think it’s safe to say it worked.

Welp, the new computer was a giant fail. It seems as though I'm having some other issue now. The dash / instrument cluster is not turning on. I have no idea what's involved with that.
Man do I hate electrical problems. It's not my forte.
@AndreasPassat :

I would return that computer and put your money on a new shift detent. And, even though I found it hard to believe, I read that a blown brake light fuse can cause a no-start condition in some vehicles. Since your no-start problem grew worse over time, you might have broken or oxidized wires causing intermittent contact.

Tomorrow, I get to take the transfer case off my Dakota to replace the output shaft seal on the transmission. Not looking forward to it.

Attempted the spark plug job on the 2015 GLK. This V6 calls for a tedious removal of the intake manifold, and a thin-walled spark plug socket. After enough videos, I convinced myself that I could do this with the manifold in place.
Passenger side was easy-peasy. Remove the air filter box, be careful with the coils and you’re golden.
The driver’s side is a different story. The genii who haunt the mystical chambers of Daimler engineering decided to park the engine control unit in that space. Removing the ECU itself is not difficult, but a very ornate bracket remains as an intimidating obstacle. Even that, however is not the problem, but the thick wire bundle that is the ECU harness is trapped between the #6 coil and the dipstick tube. I couldn’t figure it out before night approached, so I buttoned her back up with only 3 new plugs. I will research and come back better armed.
I completed the job yesterday, thanks to this professional-level video.
Poked around on the Chevy truck a bit more.
At some point in time someone worked on the shifter position switch (on the transmission) and actually epoxied the connectors to the switch. Who the hell does that?
Anyways, the position switch is bad and now so are the connectors that connect to it. I had to bust everything apart. Ordered a new switch and pigtail connectors. Should be here next week.

Having rebuilt the tranny on my 2001 Yukon, I can attest to the fact that it comes from the factory that way. Bust out your heat gun to soften that crap up and the connectors will separate.

Too late for that.
New switch and pigtails are on their way.
And people bitch about VW's.

Changed out the brakes on the Rav4 today. Installed a complete set of StopTech rotors and pads all the way around.
Holy cats, those pads bite down hard on them rotors. Just about put my wife's head into the dash on a test run.
Not a bad deal for $320.

StopTech rotor.
The drilled and slotted rotors look kinda funky on a Rav4 but I'm all about the stopping power these things provide.

The wife finally replaced her 2010 Mazda CX-7 Grand Touring last weekend. Detailed the new car today. Put on some Griots Garage 3 in 1 Ceramic Spray Wax (Try this stuff folks, it is awesome!) and conditioned the leather. She’s a 2023 Lexus RX350 FWD in Luxury Trim with every option. Eminent white pearl with macadamia interior. Ash bamboo wood trim. Rides quiet and comfortable. The 2.4l turbo has a ton of grunt. She loves it.
