I was looking around on ebay earlier today. found out these two K04 Turbos.
one of them have around 90 sold, and the other had around 150 sold.
so i figure they must not so bad to have so many of them sold.
but the price just shocked me. i saw the same kit was $1100 on ECS tuning. and these turbos on ebay are one third of that price or cheaper.
what's the difference between them?

They are usually junk.

Neither one is an actual K04. The first is missing the K's inside the triangle, (and the latest production run uses the Borg-Warner logo); the second is merely around the same shape as a K04, but clearly isn't one.

Save your money.

ECS sells the real thing.

I have a genuine Borg-Warner k04-015 and it has 70k miles on it. I have not heard of any ebay k04's going that far, though I could be wrong.

Difference is that the eBay ones are knock-off junk and will fail quickly, if they work at all. "Friends don't let friends buy eBay turbochargers." We've heard this story a hundred times on Passatworld.

I bought a used K03 rather than waste my money on a new, fake "k04".
