...also saw the CD changer option. Will this work in a system that didn't come stock with it?
Got me thinking about a swap.Lots of 2.7Ts also, much easier swap. Question - does the Quattro use the same automatic trans as the 2.8 4mo, or is it beefed up?
Trunk CD changer is pre-wired on Monsoon systems (maybe all).
The same trans is used, but the TC is stronger and valve pressure might change. Make sure you have a matching final drive. If you do the swap, the manual is the way to go. It will end up lighter than the 1.8T/Tip or V6/Tip combo.
Swapped the shark fin antenna back to the mast type. I was tired of the female side of the family complaining about poor reception. Used RTV gasket material to secure the two inner fender mounted covers for the front blinkers. They kept disappearing periodically. Verified the trunk shocks were shot. Ordered new trunk and hood shocks and the rubber spacers which go between the engine and engine cover.
Got some new CEL codes to investigate; 17819 & 17831 Secondary Air Injection System Bank 2 & Bank 1, Insufficient Flow.
Sounds like a straight-forward troubleshooting process. Since it is both banks I am hoping for either a bad fuse/relay or a cracked plastic tube.
I need to do this to my 5spd wagon. The car is destined for my son but I don't think he wants to learn how to wrench on cars. I don't know if having him help with this job would be a good way to address that or not, or even if he should learn to wrench on cars....Still, I bet he will feel the difference before/after so that is worth something.
And yeah, those bolts look nice. Did they come with the kit or did you order them separately?
I have to offload my ‘02 GLX, Edward, who has been a trusty steed for 6 years or so. I’ll be heading off to Germany soon. If anyone has any interest, speak now before she goes off to the “we buy any car” folks.
No rust, runs fine, recurring P0431 and 2 cat converter efficiency light, new CV axles & front brakes, uses some oil, a fine driver, just a bit crispy form the 18 years in the Florida sun. Some scruffy clear coat on the roof.
Used cars are very low priced in Germany. It is mind blowing. When returning, buy a couple of used cars and send them by ship to New Jersey. Declare them as your property and they won't charge duty on it.
I'm wondering if anyone can help me with an odd issue with my 2002 b5.5 1.8 FWD.
My vehicle, when cold, will not start on the first attempt. I can hold the key on, it cranks great but does not fire/start. I can then turn the key to the off position and try again, where the car will usually...

Excessive engine vibration is the single most annoying problem I have had with this car. It is affecting the comfortable driveability of the car. Especially on highway. One thing for sure is I AM PRETTY SURE THE VIBRATION IS ENGINE RELATED. It...
Hi, everyone. I'm new to the forum. I just bought a 2004 Passat 2.8 V6 with 151,000 miles last week and I've already encountered a problem. I bought the car and it drove perfect on the 40 mile trip home and for a few miles around town. Now all of the sudden I go to start it and all it does is...
I have a leak from the general vicinity of the thermostat, V6 ATQ engine. I noticed some coolant dripping down on the passenger side of the engine inside the alternator onto the oil pan. I pulled the front end into service position, removed the serpentine belt, removed the serp tensioner to...
