Went to the salvage yard just to look around. For those of you with W8s, I took a few photos of one. If any of these parts are needed, just let me know and I'll pull them and ship them out for cost.

...also saw the CD changer option. Will this work in a system that didn't come stock with it?
Saw this too...

Got me thinking about a swap.Lots of 2.7Ts also, much easier swap. Question - does the Quattro use the same automatic trans as the 2.8 4mo, or is it beefed up?

Trunk CD changer is pre-wired on Monsoon systems (maybe all).
The same trans is used, but the TC is stronger and valve pressure might change. Make sure you have a matching final drive. If you do the swap, the manual is the way to go. It will end up lighter than the 1.8T/Tip or V6/Tip combo.

Swapped the shark fin antenna back to the mast type. I was tired of the female side of the family complaining about poor reception. Used RTV gasket material to secure the two inner fender mounted covers for the front blinkers. They kept disappearing periodically. Verified the trunk shocks were shot. Ordered new trunk and hood shocks and the rubber spacers which go between the engine and engine cover.

Got some new CEL codes to investigate; 17819 & 17831 Secondary Air Injection System Bank 2 & Bank 1, Insufficient Flow.
Sounds like a straight-forward troubleshooting process. Since it is both banks I am hoping for either a bad fuse/relay or a cracked plastic tube.

If I can't get that, I would like to paint mine that color.

I need to do this to my 5spd wagon. The car is destined for my son but I don't think he wants to learn how to wrench on cars. I don't know if having him help with this job would be a good way to address that or not, or even if he should learn to wrench on cars....Still, I bet he will feel the difference before/after so that is worth something.

And yeah, those bolts look nice. Did they come with the kit or did you order them separately?

They were part of the kit. This weekend hopefully I'll have time to remove the pinch bolts and apply anti-seize in case I have to remove them in the near future.

Believe me, soon he'll beg to learn it. Just wait until he pays a couple of repair bills out of his own pocket and then you'll see the magic.

I have to offload my ‘02 GLX, Edward, who has been a trusty steed for 6 years or so. I’ll be heading off to Germany soon. If anyone has any interest, speak now before she goes off to the “we buy any car” folks.

No rust, runs fine, recurring P0431 and 2 cat converter efficiency light, new CV axles & front brakes, uses some oil, a fine driver, just a bit crispy form the 18 years in the Florida sun. Some scruffy clear coat on the roof.

No, job is taking me there, so will be in Hannover or Braunschweig (not too far from Wolfsburg) for the foreseeable future.

Used cars are very low priced in Germany. It is mind blowing. When returning, buy a couple of used cars and send them by ship to New Jersey. Declare them as your property and they won't charge duty on it.
