I've seen this on many forums and it's always been a winner. Post up what you did to your car today. Add a picture or two that show what your did.

With that, I give you my addition, I polished my headlights.

Today I repaired my sunroof switch which had a mind of it's own by opening the sunroof w/o being asked. I used this link - https://www.passatworld.com/forums/...-fix-w-pics-sunroof-opens-closes-its-own.html
I can always find a solution here to whatever ails my VW.
Took advantage of the above-freezing temperatures to reverse-flush the heater core. Thought I would also drain the radiator while I was at it. Upon opening the drain, there was barely a trickle. Loosened the expansion tank cap and blew some compressed air up thru the length of drain tubing I had connected. Look at all the sediment which was in there. Food Cuisine Dish Recipe

And look at the crap that ended up in the expansion tank. Stain Soil Cuisine Food

I think that if we don't flush out the radiator while we reverse-flush the heater core, we are wasting our time.

With yesterday and today in the 40's here in NE Wisconsin ( after -25 air temps/-55 windchill ) I decided it was time to have heat. I also decided it was time to changeover from G12/13 to Peak yellow coolant. Flushed block/radiator 3x and reverse-flushed heater core. Ran til 190 in driveway, then went to gas station. Holy crap ! I forgot what heat felt like !

Changed the rear brake pads. Thought I was being punked by what the manual said I should do with the parking brake. These Germans must sit back and laugh their asses off by what they make us do to perform maintenance on these vehicles.

Today I replaced both side-view mirror housings. The passenger side was cracked and I couldn't find a decent black one at the salvage yard. I replaced them with silver housings. My wagon is black and, I must say, the silver looks good.

Heh, kinda like an S4.
I had previously lost one of the roof gutter trim pieces, so had already replaced those with silver. Now with the silver mirror housings it looks like it should have from the assembly line. Is this what S4's look like ?

Ordered a timing belt kit and fuel filter for #3, my youngest son's 2000 V6 FWD wagon. He's had it for just over 5 years and about 100K. Last changed when we bought it. Lot's of work to do in the next 2 weeks before he heads home to Cincinnati.
My kit arrived yesterday. Will tackle it this weekend. About 60K since last change, but either cam tensioner gaskets and/or cam seals are leaking - and am sick of oil spots on driveway.
Got the timing belt changed, after replacing the crankshaft timing belt cover ( broken ) and tapping out upper cover threads ( stripped ). Not as difficult as I anticipated. Now, if the oil leak was coming from the camshaft seals I should see no more oil spots on the driveway - and I can put the belly pan back on.
This weekend I plan on replacing the leaking flex-pipes. I saw a post from - I think - cchief22, that showed him modifying the exhaust system to allow the flex-pipes to be thread-on. That's my plan. Wish me luck.

Well, that went for scheiss ! I think I should join the circus as a contortionist after twisting every which way to get at those exhaust manifold nuts. Snapped a stud on the passenger side. And I haven't even attempted to get at the top 2.
Looks like a weekend project just got extended.
Finally found/made the time to change my O2 sensors out today. After 18 months of owning, would be nice to have no CEL - until the next problem rears it's ugly head.

While underneath, I noticed that there are plastic plugs in the underbody. I also noticed that these plugs, which are supposed to be covered with undercoating, are now probably exposed on most of our B5's. Before the snow flies and the salt is spread, might be a good time to give them all a new shot of undercoating.

Tightened the gas cap and cleared the 'very small EVAP leak, intermittant' code. Hopefully this is all it will take, otherwise I'll have to dig into the EVAP system. I've been stopping when the cap hits the first click. Maybe that's not enough? From now, it's 3-4 solid clicks for me
I had similar experience with minor EVAP leak. Then I bought a generic after market gas cap which did not resolve the issue (wasted money). Then I started clicking the original cap a few times and ever since have no issues on that front.
I will start tightening my cap more - I have the same code.

Buttoned up the engine compartment for Winter. Hopefully nothing but an oil change before the snow flies.

Cleared the 'very small EVAP leak, intermittant' code, again.....took off the EVAP valve and tried to blow through it, it seemed fine so I put it back on. Replaced the rubber part that holds it to the bracket since it was torn. Replaced the clamps of course with some brand new oetiker clamps, checked the gas cap and put it back on with 4 clicks. I really don't want to spend a lot of time on this EVAP thing and my VCDS is currently out of action so hoping this will fix it. If not, I guess I'll get my VCDS back together and go from there.
If you know - or if anyone knows - 10 minutes +/- after shutting off and after removing/replacing the EVAP valve, should there be a gurgling sound in gas tank after loosening gas cap ? Sounded like fuel was draining back into tank.
How long did the last set go ? I did mine about 1K miles ago. I put threads on both ends and gave them a good coating of hi-temp paint. Wish I could have found some reverse-thread fittings; wasn't easy mating everything up. Not looking forward to this job again.
I didn't do anything today. Got in, pushed the rear window defroster button, and the wood-grain trim piece corner popped loose. I guess after 17 years, the adhesive finally gave up the ghost.

Anyone have suggestions as to what I can use to glue this back down in sub-freezing temperatures?
Grew tired of the engine oil leaks so reverted back to conventional 10W40 and added a qt. of :

500 miles since and leaks have stopped ( knock on wood ).

Been here before for different reasons, think today might be the end of repairs to get my 2.8 01 Passat sound.

.........

Also worth noting, replaced bank 1 cam chain tensioner shoe. Noted that when we were trying to wedge it in, the middle cam on that side popped over one tooth ? Tuesday she gets TDC check for alignment, but the noise is troubling. Only thing I cant figure out is why this car clacks when started from cold. After turnover, I can turn it off and start it again and no noise. Only when it sits. ?‍♂?‍♂?‍♂ trouble in B5 mechanics paradise
I do believe that the CCTs need oil pressure to work properly. I think they're supposed to hold that pressure for a while. Yours may be leaking down too soon - might be a sign that new ones are in your future. If they fail, it may be too late.
Noticed a grinding in the rear passenger brakes when applying. Have to investigate tonight or tomorrow. Hope it's just a case of the assembly not sliding freely on the guide pins.
