Bough a 96 Tdi last week; found the rear driver side floor wet along the center console this morning. Any advice as to the likely source of the leak and/or remedies?
Welcome to the club. While we normally don't discuss too many issues with previous Passat generations, I would suspect either a grommet in the firewall or possibly a cabin air filter not being installed correctly.
Wet floor syndrome may also be caused by AC condensate. Several of the B5's here have complained about wet floors both front and rear. Sometimes the condensate drain line gets plugged up with mud or other debris and then the condensate that normally drips below the car when the AC is on, will back up into the car. Good luck. Hope you find the problem.
