high quotes and not willing to insure lowered vehicles?!

out of curiosity... i checked out the online quotes... $4600+ per year, OUCH! :icon_eek: that's the lowest quote i could get.

got a call from a rep that put me over to a "NY Specialist" :hmmm: . asked me about my mods, so i told him that the engine is oem, but the suspension has been lowered 1.5 inches. he immediately told me they can't insure a vehicle with a lowering kit.

now, that's fine with me because i found the quote to be high anyway, but why in the world would an insurance company support a forum where a large majority of us have mods that more than likely involve some form of lowering?

maybe they were blowing me off before i had the chance to do it to them, but just felt i should add my 2 cents here. i'm an honest person and pw has strict rules about threads regarding insurance fraud... but seriously, unless you lie about your mods, how does this company expect to gain any significant source of customers from a forum when they are alienating a major demographic of the site? (im not advocating this, just making a point)

my insurance never asked me about mods, hell they even have full pics and documentation on my baja and they said it was one of the coolest cars they insured. even got a chuckle out of him when he saw the 30" tires and a slight lift on it

If they want to help sponsor this forum... good. :dollarsign:
If the product they offer isn't appealing, don't do business with them.

Maybe I'm missing something.

Yes, pw being willing to accept their $ to help cover the costs of running the site is logical.

My point was directed more towards the logic on 21st Century's side... I would assume the main reason for sponsoring the forum would be the boost in both exposure and new customers. Choosing not to insure a car with a "lift kit" eliminates a large portion of people that frequent this forum, and seems counterproductive to their possible gains of sponsorship.

I'm sure the people that carry insurance with them do so because they are happy with the price & coverage offered. I know premiums fluctuate based on a huge number of factors, and if an insurance company knows it can't offer a competitive quote, then they will try to find some other reasons they can't insure you. A few years back I had Geico flat-out refuse to even give me a quote on the basis that they only issue "family plans"... ????? I knew it was bs and when I pressured them further, they finally spit out an insane quote. They probably didn't want to give that quote with all the publicity they run regarding saving money, so they tried to just blow me off. No biggie, I get it, and maybe 21st Century was using this same tactic due to the high quotes they gave online.

I just don't understand what 21st Century expects to accomplish here if they truly won't insure a lowered vehicle.

It's like a butcher advertising on a vegan website/forum. What's the f'n point? I also see it as a lack of respect from our oh so wonderful new owners for their members.

The new owners don't care about us, they only care about lining their pockets.

I hope 21st at least looks up the condom ads and uses one on any PW member they bring on as a customer.
