I wanna get this, but i've had some trouble finding install instructions. Also i looked at the evo sports website and i'm not sure what piece i need. I have a 2001.5 b5.5 black passat with beige leather interior. The website has all this talk about late and early model but i don't know what i need, also i'm not sure what the potentionameter or whatever it is does. Any advice?

Enjoy, here are the instructions:

If you have a 2001.5, you need the "early" type most likely.

Here is beige:

Basically, if you have a "circle" at the 11o'clock position of your sunroof dial, rather than a "line" you have the early version. It's very simple to install, (I haven't done the dial LED yet, doesn't seem worth $75 to me) and looks sweet at night!

It looks hard and I was intimidated, but it took me only 15 minutes (10 for going over instructions! ) It's VERY easy to install, and it looks awesome!! I say DO IT!!

Your sun dial will pop out the back of the overhead you have now, and will slide into the W8 overhead. You only need to buy a new sun dial if you want the indicator to light up on it. I didn't buy the W8 turn dial cause it's the same price as the console, and thought it was too much just for a little light, but it does look nice.

You guys with the easy mods... I had to create a bracket (made from carboard) for the dial, and then the switching of the harness for the power, run new wires from the fuse panel... My '98 wasnt all that hard, but took a little longer.

If you want a contrasting W8 panel and cover, check out one of my recent threads.

I took my W-8 overhead console to my local VW dealer. They happily installed it for me in about 20 minutes for $25. Not bad if you're not automotively handy!
For those who have installed this on a B5.5, where do you run the wires after they exit the headliner? I guess I am wondering whether the airbag in the A-pillar prevents you from running wires under it? Would/could the wire be an issue if that air bag inflates?

There is already a wire bundle there that you can tie up to with zip ties. The only problem I had was in getting the a pillar cover back on straight (that and a couple fingerprints on the cover...), wish I had just tucked the wire in rather than pulling the cover and tying it up neat.....
