Vacuum line left out in every thread.

Hey guys, I was driving around today enjoying my exhaust drone and my thoughts began to ponder about my emissions when suddenly I realized that after like a year when I had changed my vacuum lines to silicone ones. I remembered that one line that runs behind the intake manifold which was torn but I didn't replace because it was bigger than 3mm(or was it 3.5). Any who, that hose as far as I've always seen in threads, has always been left out. Some have asked but never got a response as to what size it was. And now, I'm asking for the bump on this, anyone know the size?? It has clamps of doom and connects to the T fitting. It is about 2.5 inches long.

Also as I unplugged a vacuum line from that little zinc plated block(vacuum check valve?), I'm not sure as if air sucked in or blew out. Could it be a sign that it is clogged somewhere?? If one line is torn, it obviously should have no vacuum anywhere what so ever, no???

It is a 6mm line although I used a 5mm line because I did not have any of the proper size. Be careful when removing the 3mm lines off the T portion of that. It is just a poly fitting and the lines will be stuck to it. Just pulling on the lines with stretch the leg of the T fitting, rendering it useless. The local VW dealership will not carry that part and it is so odd that no FLAPS or hardware store had something the exact same size. Carefully score the tube with a utility knife.

The sound probably came from the vacuum reservoir refilling with air as said above. It is a good sound to have heard, meaning no vacuum leaks in that circuit at least.

I will be sure to order the silicone line, thanks. Yeah I thought that out about the T fitting, it's thin polypropylene material, should have been made of acrylic or polycarb. I'll cut off the doom clamp from the manifold first that way I can remove the other in my hand carefully. Either ways, I work in injection plastic molding and these fittings can be found all over the place :lol:

Yeah I thought so too, It was a loop that I pulled which was in my way of one of the 3 10mm bolts to remove that black abs frame where all the vacuum lines lay in T fittings. Once I replace the torn hose I unplug each line to double check that there is vacuum in every fitting and coupler.

The T is VW part number 078129737A
The hose is 7mm ID by 2.5mm wall and requires 50mm (2 inches) of VW PN 443121107A Vacuum hose, but it is sold in 5M lengths.

Thanks for the heads up, I don't recall how I removed those 3mm hose without doing that but I'll be careful once more.

Update:
I ended up using 6mm, nice tight fit. Was happy that I was able to reuse the original clamps
