My wife's Wagon woke up very sick this morning.

It has been running very well for the last 6 months, (No issues) and BAM! Murphy's Law, she is very sick this morning. :(

I dont think the poor thing can take this Nevada Heat.

Wife said it stalled on her and EPC Light turned on. She limped back home and i pulled the following codes:

I would double check the timing, but that is a standard reply on any cam code.

It's odd all of those fail at the same time, I could see the knock sensor with a CPS, but not the P1633.

The only other thing I can think of is the engine speed sensor, but they usually throw a code on their own.

Update!

Well i cleared the codes and i cant recreate the issues, however i notice a bearing chirping sound in the middle of the engine.

Removed serpentine belt/tensioner sound still persist....seems to be a water pump bearing (TB Full Service less than 6000 miles) :banghead:

I hope it's a rubish water pump.

Will see! :p

Well,
I am still lost

The chirping sound is gone (it is the water pump bearing making a little moise but works) The pump is new, the car isnt overheating and the pump isnt leacking so i decided not to change it and concentrate somewhere else.

Took it for a spin, ran great with no issues, however; just before arriving home when i made a sharp right turn, i lost power and EPC light came on, the car didnt shut off, but it went on limp mode..........got this codes:

16725 - Camshaft Position Sensor (G40): Implausible Signal
P0341 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent
17800 - Camshaft Position Sensor Bank 2 (G163): Open Short to Plus
P1392 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent
18041 - Accelerator Position Sensor 2 (G185): Signal too Low
P1633 - 35-00 - -
Readiness: 0000 0000

EPC Codes is gone after turning the car off and on again.

It seems that this happens only when i make right turns (I think this code has to do something with it......Accelerator Position Sensor) as for the other two................mind you that it was over 110F, i dunno.

Seems this passat hates hot weather, run's great at lower than 95F, even at 100F it's still Ok, but over that she cant take it?

Car ran great tonight, like nothing happened, no lights no nothing even with sharp right turns, outside Temp was around 94.

Any ideas????

Check the engine grounds as it sounds electrical.
Good idea.

I agree! that's why i dont want to buy parts at this moment, it doesnt make sense.

Here are the latest faults:

3 Faults Found:
16711 - Knock Sensor 1 (G61): Signal too Low
P0327 - 35-00 - -
17746 - Camshaft Position Sensor (G40) Open or Short to Plus
P1338 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent
18047 - Accelerator Position Sensor 1/2 (G79/G185): Implausible Signal
P1639 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent

Hey rusf77, I live in Vegas too.

I have an '03 GLX wagon and work in Boulder City and when I first get in the car to go home after it has sat in the sun all day, the red Multi Function Indicator (MFA in the owner's manual) cannot be seen at all. By the time I get to Railroad Pass (2-3 miles) I can just begin to see that the outside temperature is 111. When I reach the 215 interchange (5-6 more miles) it can be fully read.

In the morning (a cool for Vegas 93 degrees) the display is almost fully bright and is completely bright a mile later. Un-informed conclusion: like me, my cluster hates the heat.

I apologize for this worthless post but I just got my Passat a week ago. I'm begining to like this car intensely but nobody in my life cares. They're all still wondering why I bought a "station wagon."

Hey Foy,

Thanks for your Post, no need for apologies.

I have the exact same issues as well with my display, where it is very Hot outside 100 or over, i cant see clear, but when it is cool it works like a charm.

I love this wagon but i guess at least mine doesnt take to Extreme Heat kindly, however it does not overheat.

I think Wagons (specially europeans) are awsome.

Last night at the gas station (Smiths) this guy was with a White wagon with W8 Wheels. (It was soooooooooo sick) i even told the guy it was nice!

Wagons are cool, specially this one IMO!

Feel proud of what you drive because not only is it a well build car, it is comfy, safe and versatile and IMO liked Wagons over Sedans on any car model, from Volvos, Saabs and Audi's Avants :D

All the best

Well the Wagon is still sick!

I checked voltage to the cam sensor and checked OK, did a little more research and someone on the Audi's forum with the same engine and similar codes, recomended to check timing as it may have skipped 1 tooth and is causing this codes and the problems, makes sense but like i said, the TB was replaced not 6000miles ago and i havent had any issues so far (Kock on wood)

Car runs fine, no check engine light, i dont have any misfiring codes, but this 2 codes?

16711 - Knock Sensor 1 (G61): Signal too Low
P0327 - 35-00 - -
17746 - Camshaft Position Sensor (G40) Open or Short to Plus
P1338 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent

Any toughts before i start thearing things apart
