I followed the instructions at the link below and after everything was replaced and I was ready to pull the pin that is already in place when you buy a new tensioner, I realized that the pin was too short, there was no way I could reach it or get a grip on it to pull the pin out, so, I took the tensioner back out and replaced the pin with some electrical wire that I had. Then, I re-installed the tensioner and when it was in place and ready, I used the 17mm to let the tension off the wire and then I pulled the wire out.

Without removing the fan there was not enough room to get my torque wrench and 10mm hex in there, so I just tightened it nice and tight.

Also, I assume it is recommended to put some sort of lock-tite on the 10mm hex?

I don't install them with the pin in place, but if it were still in there, a magnet would pull it out when tension is released.

I'm about to change the belt and am not sure whether to change the tensioner as well. Mine is a 1.8T but I'm just trying to figure if changing the tensioner is a must.
