Just recently, ive been noticing a small burning smell, but the engine temp is normal, and the hood of the car isnt that hot.


but the side fends are pretty hot to the point where it it untouchable.

any ideas?

no longer under warrenty. :sad:

it does smell like oil.

as far as a bad cat, its a straight pipe to the exhaust, with no cat in the middle.

the muffler seems to make a "kink" sound now and then too...

Here's what I'd do (and have done): Get some Simple Green or Purple Power and totally degrease the engine a few times until it's spotless. Pop the cover off the valve cover (plastic with clips) and really clean the head. Also clean thoroughly under the intake manifold. Then watch for oil leaks to develop over time. You'll locate the source of oil burning easily. It's likely: Valve cover gasket, cam shaft half-seal, or a cracked breather hose and or PCV valve problem on driver's side.
