I was driving down the road last night and I had cylinders 1 & 2 start misfirig. Once I stummbled home there was a light smoke coming from underneath the hood. I popped the hood and the turbo was red hot and there was smoke coming from where the turbo sits. Was it the turbo smoking or was it just so hot it was burning grease/grime off the heat shield?? I'm guessing the reason it got so hot is because it had to work so hard to get me home. Do you think that I've done damage to my turbo??

How expensive is it to get a new/ used turbo?? What about an upgrade to a K04? What's involved in doing that besides changing the actual turbo??

there are K04 kits that come with everything you need.. . do a search.

Good chance the smoke was just burnoff. Fix the misfire problem and see if there is any damage 1st.

A new turbo is EXPENSIVE. More than $1k I think.

ok got the misfire fixed. Turbo seems to be working fine. No more check engine light and I can hear the turbo whistling!! MUSIC TO MY EARS!!

you can get a new K0-4 turbo upgrade for 1,499 installed and everything
