I think wagners correct. It will not write to the DMS until you click the save and eject button for it. While ripping, it's saving the mp3 to your HD.
Time to do some houskeeping. Make sure you look at your pagefile size. Depending on your settings, that can eat up gigs of space... but not necessarily use it.
