No need to change if you are happy with the Continentals. Having said that, the Bridgestone Turanza LS-H will give you a quieter ride with better wet traction. Many people on here have them and like them.

I wanted the Turanzas but after checking the reviews at http://www.tirerack.com, I got Firestone Affinity LH-30 (not Affinity Touring), they are excellent for all around driving and they are mounted on stock 15 alloys (tire size 195-65/R15). A friend of mine with a GTI has them for winter tires and he can not say enough about how good they are for any type of driving. They're a lot less expensive compared to the Turanzas, and quieter compared to my mother's minivan equipped with Turanzas. P.S., if you have Firestone stores in jolly old England, DO NOT buy tires they are having specials/sales on, they suck.

Truthfully, I love my Sumitomo HTR-Z's They were inexpensive, I have 35K on them, and they are good in the rain and decent in the snow. I'm gonna be getting a new set of 4 over the summer. For the money, I've never owned a better tire.

Of course they're tyres

My UK-spec 2001 Passat b5.5 (1.8T, 20V, Sport) came with Contis. Pirelli P6000s were a significant step forward for grip, especially in the wet (which there was plenty of...), and also for noise. Pricey and wore fast, but worth it; my US-spec b5.5 has nowhere near the same handling.

For a reasonably quiet, yet grippy in the wet [Northern California gets quite a bit of rain, too] set of tyres [or tires] ... I've been very happy with Michelin Pilot Sport A/S.

Mine are 225/45/17 - Y rated ... and I've got over 20,000 miles on them so far.

Good wear, good grip, not noisy ...

Top rated tire in Consumer Reports ultra-high performance, all-season radial test:

Falken ZX 512's

Avail thru Sears but expect to wait for "plus" or "plus plus" sizing.
